Cheng T. Chen - President, CEO and Co-Founder
Cheng has over 21 years of experience in the telecommunications industry. Twelve of those years were in
executive management positions with start-up businesses. Cheng has previously managed the development of
many successful leading-edge products in both circuit and packet switching at Bell Laboratories, Teleos,
AccessWorks, and 3Com. He co-founded AccessWorks in 1993, which was acquired by 3Com in 1995. He
holds a M.S. degree in Computer Science from Ohio State University.
Dr. Rajiv Bhatia - Vice President of Engineering and Co-Founder
Raj has over 22 years of experience in LAN/WAN research and development. Prior to co-founding Quintum, he
held Senior Engineering Management positions at 3Com, Madge Networks, and Teleos, leading the design and
development of a family of SOHO Routers, WAN Access Servers, and a CTI-enabled digital switch. Raj started
his career at Bell Laboratories developing hardware and software for high-speed synchronous and asynchronous
voice/data switches. He is a gold medallist from the Columbia University's School of Engineering, from where he
holds a Doctorate Degree. He currently holds ten patents, and more, all in the area of Internet routing, are
pending.
Charles Rutledge - Vice President, Marketing
Chuck has 15 years of experience in the communications industry. He has held positions in marketing,
business development, product management and engineering. As Vice President of Wholesale Marketing at
Vialog, he established programs for distributing conferencing and collaboration services through indirect
channels and as a wholesale offering. As Director of Marketing at Madge Networks, he established a new
business unit to market video and ISDN equipment to carriers. As Business Development Director at AT&T, he
worked with telephone, cable and power companies to establish relationships for the deployment and marketing
of a variety of communications services. Chuck has a BS in Electronic Engineering, a MBA and a Juris Doctor.
Tim Thornton - Chief Technical Officer
Tim has over 21 years of experience in the development of telecommunications products. Prior to Quintum, he
was the Chief Engineer at Madge Networks, Inc. (formerly Teleos Communications) where he was responsible
for defining the architecture and system requirements for Video Networking, Carrier Switching, and ATM
products. Before Madge Networks, he was a principal in TDMT, Ltd. responsible for hardware and software
engineering. Under his leadership, TDMT, Ltd. became a market leader in Cable TV Pay Per View ordering
systems with over a million subscribers.
Ki C. Suh - Chief Architect
Ki has over 13 years of experience in telecommunications research and development. Prior to joining Quintum,
Ki worked on the system architecture and development of Signaling System 7 (SS7) on the wireless network
and various national and international variants of ISDN User Part (ISUP). Ki was also instrumental in defining the
multi-vendor interface between a VoIP Gateway and an SS7 switch. Prior to his SS7 career, Ki was the chief
architect of the switching engine of Teleos’ multi-media switches, and the designer of many international
telecommunications protocols. Ki holds a M.S. and a B.S. degree in Computer Science from M.I.T.
Pete Jankus - Vice President and General Manager
Pete has a broad communications background having held several senior management and engineering
positions with USRobotics and 3Com Corporation during his over 14-year career in the communications
industry. He brings a complete knowledge of data and telecommunications systems, network infrastructure,
engineering, product development, and general senior management experience. During his tenure at
USRobotics and 3Com, Mr. Jankus was instrumental in delivering a range of innovative solutions meeting the
unique requirements of several market segments including Carrier, Enterprise, Small/Medium Business, and
Consumer. Product deliveries include the Total Control multi-service access platform solutions, corporate analog
fax/modems, SOHO/Consumer ISDN terminal adapters and broadband router products. Prior to joining
Quintum, Pete held the position of Director of Voice over Broadband engineering at 3Com Corporation, where he
was responsible for developing VoATM and VoIP technology. Mr. Jankus holds a MSCS degree from the Illinois
Institute of Technology, and hold two patents in the area of call switching and network transmission.
