The salesforce.com Foundation is working with other corporations, foundations, youth development agencies, and NGO's who share the mission towards creating a society in which children, regardless of socio-economic background, ethnicity or learning level, have access to technology and understand how to use it to enhance their lives.
|
|
The Foundation was launched in
July 2000 and has implemented the following programs
-
Built and staffed 17 technology centers in
after-school programs around San Francisco in partnership
with PowerUP and local youth groups.
-
Provided and continuing to provide curriculum and
training to these Centers in areas such as
web-development, basic networking, multimedia production,
Flash, Photoshop, and technology curriculum integration.
-
Serve approximately 10,000 youth through these
programs in the Bay Area each year.
-
Launched a fully equipped, multi-media mobile
computer technology center to the youth on the Big Island
of Hawaii in partnership with Friends of the Future and
the Just Think Foundation.
-
Gave over 3,700 hours of community service by
salesforce.com's 200+ employees in the Centers and around
the community since July 2000.
-
Equipped 20 international schools with computers,
training and internet access. These schools are located in
Tibetan Refugee Communities in India and Nepal, in
high-conflict areas of Israel and the West Bank, and in
Ireland.
