Managing the data
driven enterprise
The foundation of every
intelligent business decision is data which
is current, consistent, accessible, and
reliable. As companies grow larger and more
geographically dispersed, meeting the data
management challenge becomes increasingly
difficult. Multiple independent business
units may use differing terminologies and
data reporting standards, and the data
itself may be spread across diverse
locations and within siloed operations.
The large and
increasingly intertwined supplier, customer
and partner ecosystems common to today’s
manufacturing and distribution industries
further complicate data accessibility and
accuracy. Potentially, thousands of
categories of data may need to be shared and
managed, and legacy infrastructure is simply
unable to quickly capture, store and
disseminate this needed data. At the same
time, tighter margins, shorter product
lifecycles, and heightened competition are
reducing windows of opportunity and spurring
new focus on operational efficiency.
